Leave Colombo for Maskeliya via Kitulgala; the filming site of the Academy Awards movie ‘The Bridge over the River Kwai’. Enjoy lunch enroute before arriving at the hotel.
After dinner at the hotel, proceed to Dalhousie after midnight. Begin ascent of the 2,243 meter high holy mountain ‘Adam’s Peak’ which has a unique distinction of being sacred to the followers of four of the world’s major religions: Buddhism, Hinduism, Christianity and Islam. Atop the peak is an oblong platform where a small Buddhist temple stands with the shrine of the footprint believed to be imprinted by a holy figure.
The main season to visit Adam’s Peak is from full moon night in December to May with its peak in March. At dawn, see the glorious spectacle of sunrise before your descent to the foothill which takes about 3 hours. On your way downhill, soak in the breathtaking views of the surrounding hill country. Savour breakfast upon arrival at the hotel. After a well-deserved rest and lunch, proceed to Colombo or your next destination.
Note: Flexible starting time of tours conducted exclusively. Please note that all timings are based from Colombo and hence may differ if taken from the beach hotels and resorts.
