Visit to Ambalangoda where the famed ‘devil masks’ are produced. After visiting one of the workshops, proceed to Hikkaduwa, which is renowned for its varied and colourful coral formations. View these from a glass-bottomed boat. Drive on to Galle, the Old Portuguese Fort rebuilt by the Dutch.

It is one of the best preserved examples of 17th century coastal fortifications that can be found anywhere in the world. Despite being credited as a Dutch structure it was actually the Portuguese who started construction, but they were usurped by the Dutch, who proceeded with the foundation that they inherited.
